There are several freely downloadable versions of WinDev:

As of January 2012, the current English release of WinDev is version 16 and the current French release is version 17.

Please ask for an upgrade only if you experience the very same case. Do not ask for an upgrade simply to be "up to date". These upgrades are not fully validated and could be incompatible one for each other.

WinDev prices in US dollars. You may want to contact your local reseller.

The WinDev Help site has numerous documents on subjects such as the W language, controls, editors, control enters, tools and native database access.

Here's a tip from Bob Roos - when searching the WinDev docs with Google or Bing use this format for the search string:

some text I'm searching for site:doc.windev.com/en-us

That will restrict searches to to just the English portion of the docs site. Bob points out that Google often gives better results than the site's own search engine. 

The HyperFileSQL e-book is a 24 page brochure-style document describing the features and benefits of WinDev's unlimited, built-in SQL database which has been around since 1988. 

The downloads page has links to product upgrades, examples, and some miscellaneous documentation.

The WinDev FTP site appears to have a more complete list of available files than the download web page.
